Abhinaya Darpana: Basic elements of Angika Abhinaya

Abhinaya Darpana is used as a foundational guide for the expressive and technical elements of Indian classical dance, especially regarding movements of the hands, eyes, head, neck, positions, and jumps. While it is central to Bharatanatyam, it is also referenced and utilized in other major classical dance forms such as Kuchipudi, Odissi, Kathak, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Manipuri, and Sattriya. These forms draw on Abhinaya Darpana for standardized gestures, postures, and expressive techniques, enabling dancers to convey stories and emotions
